As a little girl my family would take annual trips to visit relatives in Georgia and Alabama. I still have happy memories of helping my aunt in the kitchen making and canning jars of homemade chow chow for everyone in the family.
We all enjoyed that savory taste of sweet and spice over a plate of collard greens with cornbread. The jar of chow chow would be empty by the end of the meal!
As I grew older, I realized store bought jars of Chow Chow did not have the ingredients that made my aunt’s chow chow so special. So, I decided to spend some time with my Aunt Monie and learn the secret recipe and began making it for my family and friends to enjoy as I did growing up.
